Designing for Inclusion: The New DC LGBT Center

Join us for an inspiring evening about the new DC LGBT Center which is nearing completion. The DC Center for the LGBT Community will unveil the innovative design of their new office in the vibrant Shaw neighborhood. This moderated panel discussion will feature insights from key members of the DC Center and the project architects from Hickok Cole. Learn about their vision, design process, and the unique considerations made to create a collaborative, inclusive, and sustainable space that will serve multiple LGBTQ+ non-profits, including the Wanda Alston Foundation and Rainbow Families. Discover how this 6,671 SF center will become a hub for community support and connection with its modern amenities, including meeting and conferencing spaces, a cyber computer area, a new kitchen and food pantry, accessible showers and restrooms, clothing closets, and lockers.

About Our Panelists

Eddie Mansius, Treasurer, The DC Center

Eddie is a commercial real estate professional based in Washington, DC. Outside of his day job, he serves as the treasurer for The DC Center where he has meaningfully contributed to the development and execution of the ambitious vision for its new home.

Kirsten Lytle, Associate, Hickok Cole

Kirsten’s passion is bringing great design to underserved communities. Serving as the project manager, she curated a network of consultants, vendors, and manufacturers that have donated support to the project, and she leads coordination efforts to address the technical challenges posted by the unique site.

Randy Stogsdill, Senior Associate, Hickok Cole

Randy is the project designer, focused on the front end of the project. He assisted The DC Center team on site selection, test fits, and overall concept design for the space. He provided technical and design assistance for the team throughout the project.
